February 25, 2013 St Augustine, Florida    Penny Wagner’s mothered suffered from COPD, a respiratory disease, and she took care of her during the later stages. She explains,  “In June, I resigned from my teaching position, packed some belongings, and headed south---with three kids, two cats, and a dog---to St Augustine, Florida, to take care of Mom.  For Penny and her mother, it could have been the worst of times, and on some levels, Penny Wagner states, “It was a real struggle, but we pursued life and were not shattered or disheartened. My Mom valiantly fought the disease.  She wanted to live!”  It turned out that it was not the least of their time together, but, perhaps, the best of their time together. Penny avows, “God’s grace was upon us and our light shined the brightest.”

Penny Wagner wrote a book called, “Two Elephants in a Bathtub  Taking Care of Mom.”  It’s about Mom and me and our family dynamics during Mom’s care.  It relays to the reader that this time that doctors call “terminal,” was meant to be, and it truly was for us, not a time of loss.  It was a time of love.  It was not about a step down, but about a step up.”   Penny Wagner wishes to share this message with a larger readership.  “The man built the bridge after he crossed it.  He would never return, but he wanted to make it easier for those who follow.”

Two Elephants in a Bathtub explains to the reader Penny Wagner’s  emotions, her drive, and her devotions .  “Everything that happens in the world happens at the time God chooses.”
                                                                            {Ecclesiastes 3:1}
Penny Wagner is infinitely qualified to write about this subject. “You’ll want to read, Penny Wagner’s, “Two Elephants in a Bathtub. Taking Care of Mom!”
