Greenhouse Megastore is a source of in-depth technical knowledge for both gardening and greenhouses. They provide both the supplies necessary to maintain a greenhouse, as well as the greenhouses themselves. With this donation, Greenhouse Megastore used its unique expertise and experience in aiding with the design, selection and construction of the greenhouse for Northeast Elementary Magnet School. Considering the immediate success at Northeast Elementary, International Greenhouse Company and Greenhouse Megastore will likely be pursuing additional partnerships with innovative schools in the near future.
As students learn about agricultural processes necessary to grow basic foods, they are also learning about observation, the scientific method, vitamins and minerals, and what is necessary to support life. However, Greenhouse Megastore expects that this donation will not be limited to academic benefits, but will also contribute to a better understanding of health and food. Because childhood obesity is increasingly becoming a problem, the positioning of these irreplaceable lessons in an elementary school could not be more apt. The children of Northeast Elementary will be able to apply what they learn in their school greenhouse to their own homes or gardens. By growing vegetables at home, students will be able to contribute to the healthy choices of their family.
