"Unfortunately at the present time there is no effective standard medical treatment for the tinnitus sufferer," notes certified hypnotist James Malone, "however, there are a number of useful coping strategies that can offer a significant measure of relief."
Malone, who has extensively studied mind/body healing methods for tinnitus relief and is the author of the e-book "Calm Your Tinnitus," this week released the Self-Hypnosis For Tinnitus Relief or SHIFT program to the general public.
Often the root cause of tinnitus is unknown and this hampers efforts towards finding a cure. Malone has observed, "the stress of tinnitus patient is often compounded when they are told that nothing can be done for them and that they will have to learn how to live with the tinnitus, without being given any guidance on how to go about doing that."
"High levels of stress and fear about having tinnitus keeps a person focused on it, creating a vicious cycle of even higher levels of distress," states Malone. "Contrary to urban legends, hypnosis is not about mind control or making people do silly things. Rather its about teaching you how to change perceptions and tame the stress responses of the body and mind. Or in other words, how to tap into your natural potential for health and healing"
The SHIFT audio program guides the listener to a pleasant state of relaxation over gentle musical background and then provides suggestions related to increased self-confidence and natural distraction away from the tinnitus sounds. Initially users are advised to use the SHIFT program for seven consecutive days or nights and then as wanted after that initial week.
At the present time there is no charge to download the SHIFT audio MP3 or the accompanying instructional guide, however users are asked to provide feedback for refining future program offerings after using the program for one week.
