Community Food and Clothing Programs
The numbers are staggering, in DFW alone: 1 of every 4 children is suffering from hunger, and more than 640,000 people are living in poverty. Orlando and JoAnn Reyes, founders, make sure that families in need get food, clothing and job training that makes a real difference. Orlando and JoAnn Reyes, founders, saw a need 10 years ago and North Texas is fortunate they did. The Hope Center is not about giving a hand out but rather, they focus on offering a hand up. It takes more than words these days. It takes action. The resourceful staff, also beneficiaries in need, understand poverty first hand. They volunteer out of a sense of duty to repay the hand up they received.
Volunteers, food, clothing or money all go direct to meet the needs of North Texas families that are struggling to put food on the table or just find a job. For businesses considering meaningful community support, The Hope Center is the perfect choice. The Hope Center partners with other area charities and non-profits to extend their reach and benefit more families. The Hope Center educational program helps students pass their GED so they can get a better job. The Hope Center touches over 100,000 local family members a year. For many families in North Texas, time has run out. They need help with dinner tonight. Children are going to bed hungry. The Hope Center is a nonprofit, community-based organization. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2004, they have served low-income and unemployed families in Fort Worth and Dallas since 2002. They provide food, educational programs and medical referrals assistance, and build collaborative relationships with job training and placement organizations for adults and their families in an effort to improve their overall quality of life. They have more than 400 volunteers logging over 23,000 hours annually. They have expanded their volunteer base through corporate volunteers that come in and work as part of team building programs. The Hope Center provides food, clothing, and household items for individuals living at or below poverty level through their Food Pantry and Resource Center, educational programs, youth programs, job training, job placement and dental exams The Hope Center hands out reliable food assistance for families in need DFW.
