Gasparilla Arts Month is a collaborative effort between three anchor festivals: the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts (March 2-3), Gasparilla Music Festival (March 9), and the Gasparilla International Film Festival (March 19-24). Other supporters and organizers include the Arts Council of Hillsborough County, Elan Event Studio, Big City Events and Rage Media/PR.
“Synergy is becoming more and more important these days, and the teaming up of these wonderful festival will truly showcase Tampa as the beautiful city she is”, said Monica Varner, Executive Director of the Gasparilla Film Festival. “Most non-profits seem to work independently, but the benefits of collaborating and sharing resources between these fests will benefit themselves, as well as Tampa as a whole”.
In addition to sharing resources, the Gasparilla Arts Month coalition will share a united voice and effort in representing Tampa.
“Gasparilla Arts Month will allow the ‘arts trio’ to co-market each other’s festivals in both regional and national publications, and hope to attract attention to Tampa as a wonderful arts destination”
In addition to the three anchor festivals, numerous other events and cultural amenities will be listed as a part of Gasparilla Arts Month.
Local media are invited to the official proclamation by Mayor Buckhorn, which will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 9:00 a.m. at Tampa City Hall’s outside courtyard (306 E Jackson St in downtown Tampa).
Representatives from each festival, as well as from the Arts Council of Hillsborough, will be present during the event. More information can be found at gasparillaartsmonth.com.
