Lesley Tierra, Author, Herbalist, and Teacher to be Guest on “Holistic Healing” Radio Show

Lesley Tierra will discuss her new book, “Metaphor-phosis: Transform Your Stories from Pain to Power” (Balboa Press, 2012) in which she describes how people can clear repeating patterns using their inner wisdom. In her book, Lesley provides a complete toolbox to identify and transform the root causes of health issues.  In this ground breaking book, she shares how we can unearth the subconscious stories that can hinder us from being happy and healthy, and write new, positive stories for ourselves.  Lesley will discuss her book, as well as how she has used these tools for herself, as well as in her own healing practice.

Lesley Tierra, LAc, RH (AHG), is a nationally and California State licensed acupuncturist and herbalist and professional member of the American Herbalist Guild who combines acupuncture with herbal, food and inner growth therapies in her private practice. A co-founder and Advisory Board member of the American Herbalists Guild, Lesley has been actively engaged in for several decades in promoting the practice of herbal medicine in the United States through both her teaching and writing. She collaborated with her husband Michael to produce the East West Herb Course, a popular training program for lay and professional herbalists that provides comprehensive training in the use of Chinese, Ayurvedic, and western herbs. She has taught throughout the United States and England since 1983. In addition to her use of herbal medicine and acupuncture, Lesley has studied and used ancient spiritual and shamanic methods along with modern psychotherapeutic techniques for over forty years and co-led women on vision quests for five years.  Lesley is author of Healing With the Herbs of Life (Crossing Press, 2003), A Kid’s Herb Book (Robert D. Reed Publishers, 2000), Healing with Chinese Herbs (Crossing Press, 1997), The Herbs of Life (Crossing Press, 1992) and co-author of Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine Volumes I and II with Michael Tierra (Lotus Press, 1998).

About Michele Collins, RH (AHG), MPH and Andres Vergara, L.Ac. M.Ac.:
Michele and Andres are both very passionate about the practice of Chinese medicine and qi gong. They have studied and practiced Chinese medicine for a combined total of over eighteen years. In 2011, they spent six months studying Chinese herbal medicine in a university hospital setting that emphasized the practice of integrated Chinese herbal and allopathic medicine. Michele and Andres both teach and write about Chinese and herbal medicine, such as speaking for the Natural Triad/Wake Forest Integrative Medicine Seminar Series and publishing in the Journal of the American Herbalist Guild.
Michele, a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild (RH) and a Master of Public Health, integrates Chinese, Ayurvedic, and western herbs, nutritional therapy, and qi gong into her practice as an herbalist. She studied with Michael and Leslie Tierra at the East West School of Herbology where she is a certified herbalist. She serves on the board of the North Carolina Herb Association and is a member of the teaching faculty of the Academy of Integrated Medicine. Andres is an acupuncturist, herbalist, and teacher of qi gong, using solely Chinese herbs in his practice. He received his M.Ac. from Tai Sophia Institute in Maryland. He is currently licensed to practice in North Carolina, but has practiced in both North Carolina and Maryland. He has studied with a variety of well-regarded teachers of Chinese medicine, including Lonnie Jarrett, Dr. Tan, and Bob Flaws.
