New Year Means New Insurance Deductibles to Fill

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 19, 2013 - For many, the New Year brings a new deductible to fill with their insurance plans.   Until the deductible is filled, medical services tend to cost more.  As patients plan out yearly scheduled medical needs like mammograms and physicals as well as those unscheduled visits, there are some tips to remember that might save money.
   Vicki Richter, an office supervisor for Imaging Specialists, explains, “One tip that is very important is to use an “in-network” provider. If patients go out of network the charges may be different and services are applied differently to the deductible.”
   Richter says to make sure and check the insurance plan before scheduling an appointment.  She explains, “People often confuse deductible with co-insurance. A deductible is a certain amount that a patient pays before the insurance will reimburse.
