Feb. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, N.Y. – Now in its fourth year, Human Intonation (www.humanintonation.com), the premium, unisex apparel brand dedicated to raising awareness and funding for pertinent social & human rights issues, launches a special edition event targeting HIV prevention and young professional couples as the brand’s next step in its 2013 campaign to address the extreme rates of new HIV infection among women of colour and communities of colour.

On Tuesday, February 19th, off the heels of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Human Intonation’s Founder & Creative Director, Verneda Adele White, will host the brand’s first HUMAN INTONATION presents… “Is It Love? Fashion Meets Music to Raise Awareness” in collaboration with LoveJonesNYC event.

The event welding fashion and live music will raise the discussion around the importance of HIV testing and knowing one’s status both as an individual and within the context of a relationship. The program will also address options for couples to get tested together, including the new OraQuick In-Home HIV Testing Kit from OraSure Technologies. “Although the event does not exclusively target couples, tonight’s event will highlight how new developments in HIV testing within the dynamics of today’s male-female or same-sex relationships, including the ability to test at home, can positively affect change around the HIV epidemic,” says Ms. White.

Likewise, the event’s stage is set to provide an opportunity for women and men to communicate with each other in regards to sex, HIV/AIDS, and using protection in an environment that is engaging rather than intimidating, and braced by the debut of a new tee from Human Intonation, and great live music from J-Harris and LoveJonesNYC. All proceeds from tonight’s event will benefit Human Intonation’s Non-profit Partner Advocates for Youth (www.advocatesforyouth.org) in the fight to end HIV/AIDS.

Other special participants include Dr. Aletha Maybank, Asst. Commissioner, HIV Bureau, NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (On Call in the City), Chris Kazi Rolle (Together-Apart), Slim Jackson (Single Black Male), with HIV testing provided by New York Knows and Community Healthcare Network. Tonight’s event is open to the public with complimentary admission, at Toshi’s Living Room & Penthouse at the Flatiron Hotel (9 West 26th Street, NYC), Doors: 6:30pm.
