United Way of St. Joseph County Participating in MyFreeTaxes Program

Feb. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- (South Bend) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), led by United Way of St. Joseph County, is offering an additional option for taxpayers wanting to benefit from the FREE e-filing services provided through VITA. United Way is now participating in MyFreeTaxes, a free tax preparation website powered by H&R Block. By visiting www.MyFreeTaxes.com/UWtaxhelp, taxpayers with a household income of $57,000 or less will have the opportunity to file state and federal taxes for free with no cost to e-file.  

In addition to being free, e-filing through www.MyFreeTaxes.com/UWtaxhelp is easy, providing step-by-step instructions and even features a help phone line and email to get assistance from an IRS-certified professional. The MyFreeTaxes program includes Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), SNAP and WIC education and is powered by a $4.35 million grant from the Walmart Foundation.

If you have an income of $50,000 or less and would like to have your taxes prepared and filed for FREE by an IRS-certified tax preparer, please dial 2-1-1 to schedule an appointment at a VITA site near you.
