Feb. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Have you had the same itch as me before this year World Golf Match Play draw? You must definitely remember last year dramatic final where unexpected winner Hunter Mahan beat Rory McIlroy. Rory let slip his shot at becoming golf’s world No 1 for the first time. On the day he proved his status as alpha male of the British game, outwitting Westwood in a semi-final dubbed by one wag as the Gunfight at UK Corral, McIlroy could not press home his claim to being the best on the planet. Wilting in Arizona’s desert heat, the Ulsterman endured a ragged first 10 holes to fall four down to Mahan and, despite a back-nine riposte, ran out of time to erase his deficit. The sense of missed opportunity hurt McIlroy, despite his tone of weary acceptance afterwards. Here was his moment to usurp Luke Donald as No 1, and for once this purest of ball-strikers missed the target. This year Rory is much more stronger but as history showed in the past not always win the strongest competitor. Who will win this year? That`s always question?
Golf Club World delivers for this occasion a lot of discounts and offers. So here is the right time to get your new golf club and practice on the golf course. Even book golf holidays for an amazing price.
The top 64 players in the world are eligible to play in the tournament, which pits golfers against each other in a series of knockout matches – Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker’s decision to pull out, opened the door for Lowry and Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson, who will play reigning Open champion Ernie Els. Defending champion Mahan opens his campaign against Matteo Manassero of Italy, while other stand-out ties include England’s 2010 champion Ian Poulter playing Scotland’s Steven Gallacher and Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell taking on Ireland’s Padraig Harrington. World number one Rory McIlroy will play Shane Lowry in the first round of the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona. World number two and three-times winner Tiger Woods takes on fellow American Charles Howell III on Wednesday.
Donald, who won the title in 2011, is ranked third and heads the Sam Snead quarter of the draw while McIlroy and Woods are the top seeds in the Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan sections. The fourth bracket is led by number four seed Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa.
