Ten Thousand Angels Video Co-star Josh Carmichael Remembers Innocent and Talented Mindy McCready

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- I remember waiting in the lobby of the Hudson theater here in LA to meet a new country talent.  I was there to meet Mindy after being selected to portray the love interest in her first video.  Like most of America at the time I hadn't heard of her, but when I saw her bright sparkling eyes – the smile and she was so beautiful I knew this was going to be a great experience.  Mindy had one of those voices you just knew was headed to the top of the charts and that’s where Ten Thousand Angels put her.

When we arrived on the set a few days later Mindy was nervous and overwhelmed. It was a 16 hour shoot so we had a lot of one on one time with each other. She talked about her hopes with this dream being realized as a preforming artist. How the video would turn out and if she would come across right, if the fans would enjoy it and how she’d look.  Even then she talked about the challenges she was headed for and not knowing if she could handle it.  She had a little girl type of vulnerability about her and a real type of innocence.  I told her to enjoy the ride and take it all in as she could, to take care and stay true to herself.  

I felt like she needed a friend and we exchanged numbers as we completed the shoot, we talked a few times after the video. From the conversations it was obvious with Ten Thousand Angels going to #1 on the charts and opening for Garth Brooks success was hitting her fast – real fast.  It’s been a while since we talked and when I heard the news it was heartbreaking. It seemed she was overcoming the struggles and loss that has been part of her life.  Although I haven’t seen her recently I will miss her, my heart goes out to her children, family and friends.  I hope the greatness of her talent and beauty will be the focus of the legacy her children are left with.  I’m sure like many others who knew her I wish I could have helped her, she was a beautiful gifted person who gave us all the treasure of her talent and she will be missed.
