Exceptional Ohio Inn offers “Chef for a Day” experience

The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls has created a unique way for travelers to experience firsthand what it’s like to run the kitchen in a celebrated country inn.

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Logan, OH USA — After the popularity of its 2012 "Innkeeper for an Afternoon" offering,  and frequent comments from guests who say they'd love to be a chef, the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls has created a unique way for travelers to experience firsthand what it’s like to run the kitchen in a celebrated country inn.   The Inn's new “Chef for a Day” program was just launched to allow guests to try their hand as a chef.

The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls Chef for a Day program is led by Executive Chef Anthony Schulz and is offered from most days from 1-5 p.m. by advance reservation.  The experience takes place in the Inn’s kitchen and includes a private, one-on-one cooking class. Students will assist Schulz in preparing the evening dinner service and will receive specialized training on prearranged topics, such as prepping, making dressings and marinades, properly grilling meats or menu design.  Details and reservations and are available by calling (800) 653-2557 or online at innatcedarfalls.com.

The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls Chef for a Day course includes:
•   Four-hour, one-on-one instruction
•   Menu of the Day
•   A copy of one of the Inn’s cookbooks

The program is being received with rave reviews, according to Executive Chef Anthony Schulz.

"It's such a great experience for couples, especially if one cooks and the other does not," said Schulz.  "The program lets travelers see what it's really like behind the lines and they get to know a chef firsthand.  Students learn why chefs do what they do, as well as taking home secret tips and methods they'll never find in a cookbook."  

Schulz added that guests will learn classic technique, yet in an approachable way that's easy to understand.  "Students are doing the prep and cooking themselves, and they can ask questions.  Then afterward, they'll enjoy one of the best meals of their lives, while seeing our other guests enjoy the same meal that they prepared. It's very gratifying."
