Computer charity is an essential service within the community

February marked the official launch of Third Age Computer Fun’s new club situated within Craigmillar, Edinburgh. Kenny MacAskill MSP was given the honour of launching the new club to the local community.
 
Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Third Age Computer Fun, an Edinburgh based charity (SC042734), provides support and guidance to the over 50s via learning the benefits of computer training and of the internet- age is no barrier.

February marked the official launch of Third Age Computer Fun’s new club situated within Craigmillar, Edinburgh. Kenny MacAskill MSP was given the honour of launching the new club which is based in Craigmillar Library, to the local community. Mr MacAskill MSP described Third Age Computer Fun as “A fantastic organisation which provides computer and internet courses for older people in our communities.”  

Michael Bennett, the new club leader of the Craigmillar club, was keen to show members of the community and the local MSP, the services that are available via computer and internet learning. Mr MacAskill MSP was pleased to see how the community can benefit from such an essential service such as Third Age Computer Fun, “The internet is useful for so many everyday activities, such as shopping, banking and keeping in touch with friends and family. Extending this valuable project will ensure that Craigmillar’s older people have the opportunity to gain these essential skills.”

The launch of the new club provided taster sessions to the community on the vast amount of learning opportunities that are available, and how club members can learn and progress at a level that suits them. Mamie Donald, Founder and Organiser at Third Age Computer Fun added that, “Our latest club in Craigmillar, is one of many clubs that are situated in and around Edinburgh which are operated by our volunteers. Our clubs are based in areas of which a wide variety of people within the community can benefit from such an essential service within an increasingly digital life.”

Third Age Computer Fun will continue to promote the benefits of learning a new skill, at any age, is possible.
