The company’s philosophy is to transform junk into affordable gems and be the first in its kind to do this through an e-commerce platform.
http://www.moorbi.com is currently using discarded materials, which includes a large selection of tables, shelves, chairs and accessories for the home. The international set of designers is briefed to work with eco-friendly and locally sourced materials to produce a collection of goods for the home and fashion accessories.
We started thinking about design. We all would have loved to afford having design pieces in our houses and make them much more like magazine’s pictures. We all would have loved creating rooms and spaces with pieces that were more ours and unique. The fantastic products we could have seen at Design Events, Exhibitions and Fairs were unreachable but who have ever thought that would have not wanted that shelving unit in the own living room?
The Design World now is restricted to that niche market can pay for that. And most of designers not even think about the other side of the coin, of the market: all people that desires but cannot have or even worst, it is exactly their exclusion that gives to Design Pieces their over-value, because the someone else desire is something to pay for.
All this mentality caused another critical situation: most of designers have started designing completely dissociated from the real world made by people that are not celebrities or intellectual elite. Often Beauty and Style come first than functionality and smartness which make the difference between design and luxury. This have been lost. Now-a-days designers are celebrities themselves and they don’t even think about the whole process of making from crave to crave, they sometimes design products sold somewhere, picking up each material from different parts of worlds, creating beautiful shapes without properly thinking about the sustainability of the processes, and maybe not even thinking about the after, when the product will be dispose.
‘We wanted to create an online store that offers affordable pieces and where money spent on shopping made a positive difference to the high street shops you can buy from’ says one of Moorbi.com’s Co-Founder.
