Follow on Google News | Latest Research on How to Save Your MarriageMs. Jackie Johnson, well known author in the field of relationships, and facilitator of numerous groups assisting individuals in how to save your marriage, has released her latest investigative findings.
By: Dan R Young, Attorney At Law The couples that she interviewed shared their life stories with Ms. Johnson and they identified love, commitment, and respect as the cornerstones of their successful relationships. Many of the couples that she interviewed expressed the opinion that with the exceptions of addiction, abuse and adultery, marriage is a life journey where divorce is not an option. The couples that were interviewed indentified the following three key characteristics of a happy marriage. The first characteristic of a happy marriage that was identified was that of love. Love was identified by these couples as profound, deep affection and passion for each other. Rather than viewing love as just a romantic feeling, these couples that were interviewed described love as unconditional and accepting of each person’s strong qualities as well as tolerance for his or her shortcomings. The second characteristic that these couples identified was that of commitment. Ms. Johnson’s research indicated that these couples viewed commitment as more than an agreement during marriage that each of the two partners will not divorce. Rather, these couples that were interviewed considered commitment as a promise to support each other’s hopes and dreams, through the inevitable bad times as well as the good. The third and final characteristic of a happy marriage that these couples identified was that of respect. Respect was viewed by these couples as placing a high value on your spouse’s abilities and achievements. In addition, these couples expressed the opinion that they allow their partner to express opinions that the other may not share without ridicule or put down. While there were other important research findings on how to save your marriage, Ms. Johnson concluded that these latest research results were the most critical factors to be considered in assisting couples with the best ways to save a marriage.
