Studies have shown that children in the United States consistently test lower in math and science tests than other countries from around the world. An online science club is one way to help this problem.

“This is a serious problem and I wanted to do something to help turn this around.” Says Dawn Marcotte, owner of the website www.thingstodowithkidsmn.com.

“Kids love science but parents don’t have time to nurture this love because most parents don’t have a science background.” Mrs. Marcotte points out. “I wanted to provide parents and kids with fun experiments they can do at home anytime.”

The Creative Kids Science Club will provide a weekly newsletter with step-by-step directions on a fun experiment kids can do at home. It will also include a video demonstration and information on what scientific principle is being demonstrated.

Mrs. Marcotte suggests, “Kids are natural scientists and if we can keep them enthusiastic about science by showing how much fun it can be I think we will see them stay enthusiastic through middle school and into high school. This will help them do better in science and math overall.”

The Creative Kids Science Club begins March 1, 2013.
