LIFE OF PI marks her first collaboration with the film’s composer Mychael Danna. Nan Schwartz’s talents as an arranger are displayed on trumpeter Arturo Sandoval’s latest CD, “Dear Diz,” a three-time Latin Grammy winner (2012) and a three-time Grammy nominee this year. In addition, Schwartz recently returned from Berlin where she conducted her arrangements for European superstar/musician Till Bronner. Her musical talents can be heard in all genres, from numerous television series, jazz albums, concert works to film scores. In 2009, she received a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying a Vocalist for “Here’s That Rainy Day” performed by Natalie Cole. Other Grammy nominations include her arrangements on John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra’s Night and Day: Celebrate Sinatra. As a composer, Schwartz is best known for scoring the entire television series In the Heat of the Night.
