Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- IKESON, Inc. launched its MedERoster, Find A Doctor, service for LibertyHealth’s Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC) in New Jersey. Using this new service, the hospital is able to offer services to identify local doctors based on their credentials and accepted insurances. Located just minutes from New York City, JCMC is a State-designated Trauma and Heart Center that has been recognized its “Excellence in Trauma” by the American College of Surgeons. The hospital has also been recognized as New Jersey’s “Top Hospital” of its size by Castle Connolly Medical for two consecutive years. New MedERoster makes it easy for patients to identify the right doctor from over 550 hospital associated doctors by offering credential-based searches and carefully designed doctor profiles containing detailed educational backgrounds and training, professional experience, clinic information, areas of interest & research, professional association memberships, awards and other valuable information.

When someone is facing a life threatening disease, picking the right doctor is often one of the most important decisions. Mark Rabson, Corporate Director of Public Affairs, at LibertyHealth is very excited about the new service. According to him, Jersey City Medical Center takes pride in being innovative and offering new services to it patients and local community. The doctor selection process, historically viewed as a necessary burden for patients and their families can be simplified through this new service.  When someone or their loved ones are facing life-threatening situations, selection of the best suited doctor is often one of the most important decisions. We want to educate them and assist them in making the right choices. It's about comfort level; MedERoster allows us to provide this comfort level.”

Research proves that more patients are looking online to identify the best suited doctors to meet their healthcare needs. There are several sources of information regarding doctors such as online directories and online doctor rating sites. Unfortunately many of them are nothing more than electronic versions of traditional paper directories and do not offer vital information required for informed decision making. Many of these web sources of information are either incomplete, outdated and/or offer subjective doctor ratings based on unconfirmed patient reviews. Biased and unverified patient reviews can wrongly hurt a medical practice’s reputation. MedERoster does not offer any physician ratings as it is not fair to rate a doctor’s performance by only a handful of unconfirmed patient reviews. According to Dr. Saleem Mahmood, former president of the Medical/Dental staff at the hospital, “The service empowers patients to make well informed decisions regarding their doctor selection. This service will present facts about doctor professional history and services offered and let patients make an objective decision regarding who is suitable doctor for them. That is fair! ”

A typical doctor profile on MedERoster contains following information about a doctor and services offered by their offices:

1. Personal Information:  (Name, Photo, Gender, Languages Supported at office)
2. Professional Information: (Specialties, sub specialties, Board Certifications, Professional Memberships, Awards and Publications)
3. Educational & Training Information: (Medical School, Internship, Residency, Fellowship)
4. Payment Information: (Private Insurance Plans Accepted, Government plans as Medicare and Medicaid, Other methods of payment as Cash, Checks and Credit Cards)
5. Practice Information: (Clinic Address, Office Hours, Services Offered, Office Policies, onsite facilities)
6. Online Appointments: (Ability for patients to request appointment at their convenience)
7. Confidential Patient Survey: (Non public survey to allow doctors improve their service quality)
8. Virtual Office Board: (Doctor Offices can use this tool to share announcements, photos, notices, research and other medical  news of interest. They can even post jobs as they would typically do on a office board. )

Information on MedERoster can be updated by hospital staff or individual doctor offices using easy to use profile management tools. New enhancements that will include the ability to search for the doctors based on medical symptoms, disease, and patient condition will be launched soon.

In 2013, Hospital care, with an estimated $920 billion will be the largest expenditure in the $2.9 trillion healthcare budget. There are over 5,814 hospitals in the U.S. and services like MedERoster are a valuable tool for them to offer services of hospital affiliated doctors to patients, which eventually benefits hospitals. Asim Elahi, president of IKESON, sees a huge market for services offered by MedERoster as it offers patients a wealth of information about healthcare providers without even stepping into a doctor’s offices. MedERoster is developed as a robust and flexible application that can be customized and deployed in a hospital within few weeks at a cost that will be much lower than in-house development efforts carried out by hospital IT departments.

IKESON also plans to introduce a brand new service (www.SpecialistAppointment.com) to assist doctor offices manage their appointment cancellations and reschedule requests efficiently. Service could potentially save doctor offices thousands of dollars in lost revenues due to last minute cancellations. IKESON is currently seeking strategic alliances with healthcare marketing companies in different US market segments to market MedERoster and SpecialistAppointment services to regional hospitals and clinics. More information about MedERoster is available at www.MedERoster.com or go to www.libertyhealth.org to view MedERoster implementation on LibertyHealth website.
