According to the Soil Association, organic cotton garments don't contain the allergenic, carcinogenic or toxic chemical residues that result from non organic textile production. Tests carried out on conventional clothing have revealed traces of pesticides, fire retardants, formaldehyde and toxic dyestuffs. These residues can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin and may cause allergies, skin rashes or respiratory problems. Babies are particularly vulnerable as their skin is much thinner than adults. Aside from the technical stuff, the cotton is incredibly soft which is lovely next to our babies newborn skin.
