Moorbi: London Design and Innovation

As Moorbi.com are based in London, we think we should bring you all the latest news from our surrounding area and get you better acquainted with one of the world’s leading design cities!

PRLog - Feb. 15, 2013 - Firstly, it’s important to say that London's Fashion Week is commencing at the end of this week: Friday 15th - Tuesday 19th. London Fashion Week is currently trending on twitter and probably will be for the upcoming week. Also it has been recently announced that 21 shows will be live streamed on the London Fashion Week YouTube channel! Fashion is ultimately changing and adapting it seems to the ever growing online giant, and thus allowing more people to experience the shows live and with their own eyes rather than waiting for an article the next morning! We think this is a brilliant news and will be watching with eager eyes indeed!

Fashion lovers from across the globe can be seen to hit the historic British city and exhibit some of the swankiest new outfits on the scene! There are 60 catwalk shows on the bill as well as further 45 show off schedule and more than 30 on-schedule presentations and salon shows. The exhibition that runs alongside the catwalk shows showcases over 120 ready-to-wear and accessories designers each season. An example of this is - Valentino: Master of Couture at Somerset House, homage to the great designer.

These high profile design weeks are a place for trends to emerge and current designers to showcase their best offerings in new design and the future of fashion. Here’s some sustainable and eco designers we think you should watch out for in the next few exciting days: Honest By, Ada Zandition, Henrietta Ludgate. All these designers are pioneers in fashion and design and we think their collections are inspiring for other designers to source local fabrics and see the importance of sustainability.

In other Moorbi news relating to London, and also in respect to Valentine’s Day we thought we would feature some London designers on our website. We currently have some new, colourful cushions. Handmade in a studio in West London, created by Sarah Baulch with vintage and modern fabrics from our collection amassed by revamping the excesses of the textile & fashion industry and turning them into something new. Titled, ‘from the fire raises a phoenix.’
We currently have three beautiful pillows (http://www.moorbi.com/products-page/revampit) each with a title on the front that represents the emotions. We are very pleased to be showcasing this on our site, and during London Fashion Week, we will be keeping an keen eye on all the sustainable designs and then we will update you on what we thought in a week time, so stay tuned!
