Award Winning Kayak Filmmaker DVD Preview

WYANDOTTE, Michigan - Riverside Kayak Connection will be hosting Welsh adventure filmmaker, Justine Curgenven, for a DVD preview of “This is the Sea 5”.  Justine will show some of the best footage and tell behind the scenes stories at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Portofino Restaurant and Banquet Facility.

“This is a great opportunity to see some highlights from the award winning DVD "This is the Sea 5" and to learn about the making of the DVD,” said Kelly Rosen, manager of Riverside Kayak Connection.  Justine’s newest DVD, “This is the Sea 5”, contains 8 adventure films, two of which have won international awards and was shot in Patagonia, Sardinia, Sicily, London, Russia, Japan and Wales.  Appetizers will be served and the presentation will be appropriate for paddlers and non-kayakers alike.

Justine is an expedition sea kayaker and is said to be the creator of some of the most exciting sea kayaking movies ever. She uses a specially developed camera-mount to capture sea kayaking in the most exciting conditions. Justine has been on challenging expeditions around the globe, including circumnavigating the south island of New Zealand, Tasmania and the Queen Charlotte islands, a solo trip around Iceland’s West Fjords, a crossing of the Bass Strait and a wilderness journey in Kamchatka with a novice Russian kayaker. She represented England in the world surf kayak championships and loves surfing her sea kayak in the tidal races near her home in Wales. Her adventure documentaries have been shown on the BBC and National Geographic Channel and won her an award at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival.
