The dance, which was a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life drew a crowd of over 200 people that supported the cause. Bulldog DJ & Karaoke Services, who donated their DJ services for the dance, spun beats on their professional sound system for a little over 2 hours getting parents, students, and school faculty into the groove of such a great cause.
DJ Katie was exceptional with the children and made sure the event was a complete success by playing all the current hits and some throwbacks too! Fundraiser organizers mentioned that over $1,000 USD was raised for the charity, something that is a great accomplishment by the kids and event organizers.
Dr. James Craik Elementary, named after a Physician General of the United States Army who served between July 19, 1798 to June 15, 1800, is one of 21 elementary schools in the Charles County network of Public Schools and is located in Pomfret, Maryland just south of Washington D.C. in Southern Maryland. Craik Elementary prepares students to become enlightened and successful citizens through the employment of advanced technologies and teaching strategies, the exposure to community and business opportunities, the involvement of families in the learning process, the acceptance of diversity in our culture, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, and partnerships with businesses and community agencies.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is the main volunteer-driven cancer fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. Originating in the United States, the Relay For Life event has spread to 21 countries and events are held in local communities, campus universities, military bases, and in cyberspace. Although the main objective of Relay is to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, the event is held to spread cancer awareness, celebrate the lives of survivors, remember those who lost their lives to cancer, and unite a community in the fight against cancer. It is estimated that Relay For Life events have raised over $3 billion to date.
