InnoVision Forum: Advanced & Engineered Materials Swings Pendulum for SC Textile Industry

InnoVision panelists will examine how South Carolina scientists, engineers, and research teams have rejuvenated the textile industry through innovation, product development and alternative applications.
 
Feb. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Key upstate research scientists and engineers share how advanced and engineered materials are making a difference in today’s textile industry in the state of South Carolina at the InnoVision Forum sponsored by McNair Law Firm, P.A. on February 27th.

Panel members include:

Dr. Joe Royer, Director of Innovation, Performance Products Division with Milliken & Company. Milliken & Company is widely acknowledged as an international leader in research, technology and innovation. Dr. Royer has division level responsibility for innovation and growth initiative across multiple business units including product lines related to the key strategic areas of building and infrastructure, tire and mechanical rubber goods, and protective materials for military applications. Joe will highlight the various technologies that Milliken & Company has innovated, and the impact the new technologies mean to South Carolina.

Dr. Christine W. Cole, Director, Clemson Apparel Research, Professor Emerita, Materials Science and Engineering, Clemson University. Dr. Cole and Dr. John Peck (Professor Emeritus, Computer Science) founded Clemson Apparel Research, a multidisciplinary center at Clemson University that focuses on working with apparel manufacturers to improve their commercial viability.  CAR is internationally recognized for its expertise in apparel manufacturing, its support for textile and fabricated product manufacturers, and product development.  CAR performs approximately $2.2M in apparel research and implementation annually.

Mr. Brian McSharry, Chief Operating Officer, Sage Automotive Interiors. Sage Automotive Interiors develops and manufactures innovative automotive body cloth and headliners preferred by automotive manufacturers around the world.  They have established a reputation for being on the cutting edge of design and engineering, with technical capabilities supported by world-class manufacturing.
Brian co-lead the management group formerly from Milliken's Automotive Division to create Sage Automotive Interiors, and is actively engaged in supporting innovation in the community. Sage Automotive Interiors has plants and partners worldwide, with their headquarters located in the Upstate.

InnoVision Advisory Board member Martha Winebarger will moderate the panel discussion.
