In 1985 Mr and Mrs Erwin Wise, opened two shoe shops in London under the name The Tower Boot Company in 1934. The pair quickly came renowned for offering made-to-measure formal evening shoes and later, styles for fashion minded individuals. The move from formal to fashion was insightful, as demand for their footwear continued to rise; resulting in the couple re-branding the family’s chain of 40 stores and its footwear ranges to Ravel in 1965. The brand was a hit, especially with style icons of the day including the likes of Lulu and Twiggy.
