Registration Open for Kyoto Prize Symposium in San Diego

The IEEE Computer Society is a technical sponsor of this year's Kyoto Prize Symposium in San Diego. The symposium will be held 12-14 March at three local universities—San Diego State University, University of San Diego.

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 14, 2013 - LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 13 February 2013 – The IEEE Computer Society (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/guest/home) is a technical sponsor of this year's Kyoto Prize Symposium in San Diego. The symposium will be held 12-14 March at three local universities—San Diego State University, University of San Diego, and University of California San Diego. The winner of the 2012 Kyoto prize for lifelong contributions in technology is Iva Sutherland, often recognized as the "father of computer graphics."

To register for the free symposium, visit http://kyotoprizeusa.com/2013-event-registration/.  Registration can be made for the March 12 Gala at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, as well as any or all of the three participating universities.

The Kyoto Prize is an international award honoring those who have contributed significantly to humankind's scientific, cultural, and spiritual development. The prize is presented annually in three categories: Advanced Technology, Basic Sciences, and Arts and Philosophy. Consisting of academic honors, a commemorative gold medal and a cash gift of 50 million yen, it is Japan's highest private award for global achievement.

Sutherland will also hold a free tutorial on 15 March at UCSD on asynchronous computing. Admission is free. More information will be sent separately.
