Competing in the category of “Best Connection to Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook Audience,” the highly effective campaign on the Dorothy of Oz Facebook page features a photo of a Cairn terrier, as well as a description of the dog’s personality and a link to the shelter housing the pet, every Tuesday. Since the campaign’s inception in April 2012, 79 percent of the dogs featured have been adopted into new forever homes.
“Totally Toto Tuesday reflects our strong support for the human-animal bond, like Dorothy and Toto," said Ryan Carroll, producer of Dorothy of Oz and co-founder of Summertime Entertainment. "For every dog adopted, we feel a sense of relief and joy that another Cairn like Toto has found his way home.”
Followers have “liked,” commented and shared to further the posts' reach, and the posts have generated tens of thousands of impressions and interactions. Summertime Entertainment, CW3PR, Social Media Guardian and Mega World Media created and maintain the campaign.
The 3D CG animated feature film Dorothy of Oz picks up right after the end of L. Frank Baum’s beloved fairy tale “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." It continues Dorothy and Toto's journey via the subsequent adventure books written by Baum’s great-grandson, Roger Stanton Baum.
The film stars Lea Michele (Dorothy), Martin Short (Jester), Jim Belushi (Lion), Dan Aykroyd (Scarecrow), Kelsey Grammer (Tin Man), Megan Hilty (China Princess), Hugh Dancy (Marshal Mallow), Oliver Platt (Wiser the Owl), Patrick Stewart (Tugg) and Bernadette Peters (Glinda).
