- Feb. 12, 2013 -
Bartenders Academy, LLC at 663 Lakewood Road in Waterbury will be the host of a distinctive “Mixology”
networking event on Thursday, February 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Y.P.O.W.R. – Young Professionals of Waterbury Region. “We will offer the opportunity for attendees to act as if they are a professional bartender and mix non-alcoholic beverages for themselves and other attendees,” explained Peter L. Clayton, owner and school director of Bartenders Academy. “We believe it will be a very distinctive and fun way for attendees to network together in a relaxed environment while they learn the skills and techniques of professional bartenders.”
Founded in 1999, the school at the Bartenders Academy (www.CTBartendingSchool.com (http://www.ctbartendingschool.com/www.facebook.com/Barten...
)) has filled 48 bartender jobs across Connecticut since the beginning of 2013. “We fill hundreds of jobs every year for bartenders in restaurants, night clubs, hotels and inns, lounge bars, sports bars, country clubs, private clubs and parties, convention centers, theaters and for caterers from every area of Connecticut,”
stated Clayton. Since January 2013, the Bartenders Academy has filled bartending opportunities in Waterbury, Hartford, Bridgeport, Danbury, Watertown, Bristol, Darien, New Haven, West Haven, New Britain, Windsor, New Milford, Montville and Southington. “The demand is enormous,” stated Clayton, “and we are able to consistently provide skilled, professionally-
trained bartenders in jobs every month. In addition to steady bartending positions, we can often place bartenders into catered events, weddings and private parties for which many positions are for one night or one special occasion.”
The Bartenders Academy offers comprehensive training that includes instruction in mixing popular cocktail recipes, various beers and wines, liquor types, job interviewing skills, customer service and psychology, proper bar etiquette, increasing bar sales, cash management, professionalism and ethics, speed, accuracy and efficiency. “Our training is distinctive, in that in addition to all the management skills of being a bartender,” explained Clayton, “we provide future bartenders with certification in alcohol awareness and the nationally-recognized TAM-Techniques of Alcohol Management. This TAM certificate program provides instruction for the responsible service of alcohol including reducing alcohol-related accidents and incidents, and preventing the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.”
During the February 28 Waterbury Regional Chamber’s “Mixology”
Y.P.O.W.R. networking event, attendees will learn the tricks of the bartending trade. Each attendee will have the opportunity to act as a working bartender and pour their own non-alcoholic drinks while networking with other event participants. The stated mission of Y.P.O.W.R. is to energize young professionals aged 21 to 39 who are looking to grow their careers in the Waterbury area by engaging them in positive opportunities for professional development, educational, social, and community service.
The cost is $25 for non-Y.P.O.W.R. members, and is open to interested businesspeople. Registration is necessary. To learn more, and to register, visit www.ypowr.org
