The Scholtes & Janssens’ performance is organised by the Dubai Concert Committee and will be held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) in Mall of the Emirates on 13 February 2013. Furthermore, the Consul General of the Netherlands in Dubai will make a short introductory speech prior to the concert commencing.

Brigitta Dagostin, Chairperson, Dubai Concert Committee, said: “Lestari Scholtes and Gwylim Janssens have been performing together since 2003. They are recognised as one of the most promising piano duos of their generation. The two artists have learned to play with exactly the same pressure and technique that listeners will not be able to tell when a melody line changes from one performer to the other.

Furthermore, the duo will perform Franz Schubert’s Fantasie in F minor, which is one of the most beautiful, elegant and graceful pieces ever written for a piano duet and we welcome residents of the UAE to come experience this incredible performance of musical brilliance.”

In addition to Franz Shubert’s Fantasie, Scholtes & Janssens will perform: Rapsodie Espagnole by Maurice Ravel; Sonata for piano four hands by Francis Jean Marcel Poulenc; and Igor Stravinsky’s Petrushka.

We chose several of our most favorite pieces to perform so we can share our love for these pieces and for playing piano duo with the audience of Dubai.”

The duo is known for their immaculate sound, masterful and precise technical skills and intensely energetic performance. They play regularly in prestigious venues throughout Europe, USA and South America as a duet (four hands on one piano), a duo (two pianos) and with orchestras. Their debut CD with works by Rachmaninov, Debussy and Ravel was released in November 2010.

Scholtes & Janssens have participated in and won prizes at competitions throughout Europe including the very prestigious Vriendenkrans Competition of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam; the Concours Musical de France in Paris; 14th Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Verona; the 12th International Web Concert Hall Competition; The International Chamber Music Competition Almere 2009, in the Netherlands; the fourth International Piano Duo Competition 2008 in Poland.
