PRLog - Feb. 12, 2013 - Synopsis:
Wayne and Nancy grow up on opposite sides of the country, each certain they must have love better than what others will settle for. Something stronger, something richer, something worth searching for. During the turbulent nineteen-sixties, they meet while he is attending blue-collar Drexel, and she is at neighboring, Ivy League Penn. Although irresistibly drawn to each other, they must overcome obstacles posed by the class and social differences that separate them, as well as opposition from both families, and later, a twist of fate that will be the cruelest test of all. Can they reach the emotional heights they seek? Can they overcome time's downward pulling inertia? Coinage of Commitment is dedicated to all who ever wondered about the altitude love might soar to.
About the Author:
Early in life he met a girl who took his breath (and his heart) away. Years later he realized that they still shared the magic, still measured happiness by the time they spent together.
He also realized that this success was a thing of her creation, a system she had devised. Naturally, he analyzed it into its component parts, and that made him very interested in love stories. But he couldn’t find anything that matched what they were living. That made him sad for the women they knew who wanted more in love stories and kept on reading as a way of searching. Few had high hopes, only pleasure in persistence.
In 2005 Robert read a novel that he chose almost at random from a library shelf. Written by a best-selling author, it was well written, well plotted and he was hooked on the story. However the denouement, delivered in the final paragraph, was so despairing that he was outraged on behalf of the thousands of readers who, like him, felt betrayed by the book’s outcome.
Within a day, he launched a love story dedicated to all those disappointed readers he thought deserved better.
He had written sporadically all his life, including a teeth-cutting first novel, so the decision was not as crazy as it sounds. The novel’s first draft was written in a four month blaze of sleepless fury. The story was titled Coinage of Commitment, and it was published by Saga Books in 2007.
In May of 2008, Coinage of Commitment was awarded finalist honors in the prestigious National Indie Excellence Book Awards in the Romance category.
Rob's second novel, Pocket Piece Cameo, was published in November, 2008.
After this, Rob went on to non-fiction pursuits, as well as a career as a reviewer and a contest judge. In mid-2012, he decided to rewrite Coinage of Commitment to see if he could boost its reader appeal beyond what the Indie Excellence judges saw in 2007. The results were so encouraging that he decided to rewrite both books. The second edition stories were published as e-books in January of this year after seven months of full-time work.
Rob is now working on this third title.
Rob and his wife live near Houston, Texas.
