Using inspiring quotations from historical and contemporary leaders and stories that focus on outstanding examples of leaders on and off The Citadel campus, Dare To Lead will have an initial launch online using the college's web site, a "microsite,"
The Dare To Lead theme will carry through to The Citadel's ongoing efforts to attract and retain outstanding students, faculty and staff and set The Citadel apart as a premier leadership institution.
"The Citadel continues to build a reputation around the world for its academic distinction and the quality of leadership we develop in young people," said Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa. "We're very proud of what our students accomplish at The Citadel, and with Dare to Lead we will share that pride with an even wider audience."
The Dare To Lead theme developed from research and discussions conducted during the last two years. Input from the college's stakeholders, including employees, alumni, students and others revealed that The Citadel appealed to unique group of prospective students who aspired to excellence through challenge and discipline.
"The Citadel is definitely not attended by your average college student," said Jeffrey Perez, vice president for external affairs. "Students at The Citadel seek out opportunities to improve their academic standing, their character, and their capacity to lead in an environment that challenges them to maximize their talents. They choose the road less travelled, and our Dare To Lead campaign captures the spirit of that choice."
