Robert Lanza Appointed Editor-in-Chiefof BioResearch Open Access journal

Jane Taylor, PhD, MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University of Edinburgh, will continue in her role as Editor. The Journal, in its second year of publication, is a fully peer-reviewed open access journal for the rapid-publication of a broad range of scientific topics including stem cells, molecular and cellular biology, tissue engineering and biomaterials, bioengineering, gene therapy, genetics, biochemistry, virology, microbiology, and neuroscience. Dr. Lanza is Chief Scientific Officer at Advanced Cell Technology and Adjunct Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He has hundreds of publications and inventions, and over 30 scientific books. Dr. Lanza was a Fulbright Scholar and published the first-ever report of human embryonic stem cells transplanted into human patients. Recently, Lanza and a team lead by Kwang-Soo Kim at Harvard University reported a safe method for generating induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. This new method provides a potentially safe and non-controversial source of patient-specific stem cells for translation into the clinic. Dr. Lanza has received numerous awards, including an NIH Director’s Award for “Translating Basic Science Discoveries into New and Better Treatments,”
