Keys to successful outsourcing for Property Management

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 11, 2013 - “We can do it cheaper in house…”  Whenever this phrase pops up, I can’t help but start to smile.  The fact that someone can make this statement with a straight face, and actually believes this actually cracks me up.  Yes there are certain core competencies that people do extremely well and extremely efficient, but often times those are few and far between.  When you figure out the other items that you are not core competencies for you, it is your duty to do less of them, or outsource them.

The reason why I absolutely love hearing the statement “we can do it cheaper in-house”, is because that is like someone pulling a cash register and it making the loudest “Ca-ching” in my ear.  That’s because it is a massive business opportunity for us.  This is because at Inventive Property Management we focus on using technology, and outsourcing certain tasks to professional vendors to allow us to focus on our core competency, providing customer service to our clients.

Yes we could provide landscaping services for our clients, or maintenance services, or do little tasks in our office such as printing and folding statements or mailings, but experience has taught us when we are doing those other things, the opportunity cost for what we could have been doing is much greater.  Therefore we work with vendors to handle that task.

You cannot be all things to all people, which we have realized.  You also need to know when to use a professional for a task versus trying to do it “cheaper in house” (ca-ching).  While you are spinning your wheels trying to stay afloat doing these tasks that are not your core competency, keep in mind that someone out there like (Inventive Property Management) has figured out a more efficient way  and more productive way to do this.
