Laura Smalls Brings "Symmetry" to New York Fashion Week

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 10, 2013 - Designer Laura Smalls continues to be on top of the "Ones to Watch" list amongst the fashion industry. Since beginning her independent designs in 2009 with her "30 Dresses” collection, it is expected that Smalls will put on a runway that exudes style and sophistication. She is known for her ability to register modern contemporary fashion with a talented balance of ladylike elegance, when dressing up for any moment in a day meant something.

Since being further catapulted into the spotlight by the appearances of First Lady Michelle Obama not once, but twice, during the DNC, eyes having been watching for what's next from designer Laura Smalls. As stated during her S/S 2012 runway by Andre Leon Talley "She underscores her silhouettes with a nuance of fine dressmaking. I love her sense of drape in asymmetrical jersey dinner dresses. Smalls never forgets to mark her silhouette with a flattering drape."

This season, Smalls will be presenting her "Symmetry" collection for F/W 2013 Fashion Week. The collection is inspired from the graphic works of artist Sonia Delaunay. Smalls plays with both rounded and angular shapes in both pattern work, color and print. The capsule collection will encompass a mixing of tones of teal, jade green, burgundy and brown for day looks and black, cream, gold and pewter metallic grays for an added touch of drama in her evening looks.

Past supporters and attendees include the Who's Who of fashion and style like: Vogue's Andre Leon Talley, Italian Vogue's Bethann Hardison, WWD's Bobbi McQueen, supermodel Chanel Iman, music icon Valerie Simpson, opera sensation Kathleen Battle and actress Grace Hightower De Niro.
