The announcement was just the latest bold move in what has become an aggressive campaign establishing Marshall's technological and intellectual abilities across a variety of fields. It began with his proving that Stephen Hawking was wrong about his Chronology Protection Conjecture with the first ever physical experiment to prove Hawking wrong about something, then followed by proving that elementary school children could see a mistake in Hawking's "Mad Scientist Paradox" on the Discovery Channel, followed again by beating Stephen Hawking in his bet over the Higgs Boson particle in July. August found Marshall emerging from his successful appearance at the Mars Society Conference in Pasadena to announce the successful creation of the Verdrehung Fan™ proto-time machine to challenge Ronald Mallett's claim to having the worlds first time machine. Marshall has since been battering Mallett's position as the world's leader in time travel science with public appearances demonstrating the Verdrehung Fan™ in science classes, on live radio braodcasts and lectures. December 20th Marshall put Mallett in a distant 2nd place by announcing that he had upgraded the power for the device and it had reached the 1st stage requirement, set by Mallett, to be a time machine, leaving only one stage to go. Meanwhile, it was revealed that Mallett won't have a demonstrable device for another nine years. Marshall followed that by announcing the creation of a special report for select members of Congress on the true geometries of time travel so that the expected announcement that a time machine had truly been invented would not have the officials on Capital Hill worried about time travel paradoxes, which Marshall's report proves are impossible - the first document of its kind to do so. Marshall is now preparing a nationwide tour promoting both his time machine device and his warp drive technology, making him the most advanced concept inventor on Earth.
The announcement of the long awaited unveiling event of the STDTS™ means that the world will see what others have before, in various lecture events or in the company of reporters getting a story - that the technology to accomplish warp drive exists and Marshall Barnes has it. "I know that there are people that don't believe it," Marshall admitted later, "but they don't realize that I've had this since 2000.
