By: wake tech RALEIGH, N.C. (February 5, 2013) — For more than a year, the Triangle’s corporate and community leaders, educators and benefactors have been working behind the scenes to build support for Wake Tech’s major gifts campaign, called “The Ripple Effect.” The campaign is a response to record-breaking enrollment at the college and unprecedented demand for its education and training programs. Now, they’re going public: On Thursday, February 7, campaign leaders will reveal how much they’ve raised, announce their new goal, and launch the public phase of the campaign at an invitation-only event at Raleigh’s Angus Barn. The evening will include a look back at Wake Tech’s history, a toast to its 50th anniversary, and a call to action for the community to help “start a ripple.” Wake Tech culinary students will assist Angus Barn chef (and Wake Tech alum) Walter Royal in preparing the dinner. What: The Ripple Effect Campaign Celebration When: Thursday, February 7, 2013 6:30 p.m. Where: The Pavilions at the Angus Barn 9401 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, NC Who: Dr. Stephen Scott, Wake Tech President Dr. Bruce Howell, former Wake Tech President Col. Holding Industrial Education Center. With record enrollment, Wake Tech has grown to become the largest of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina. Last year, Wake Tech served more than 66,000 students – the equivalent of 1 in 8 Wake County adults. Public funding is not enough to keep up with the demand for Wake Tech’s services. The Ripple Effect Campaign supports scholarships and mentoring initiatives for students, faculty and staff innovation, and technology to provide the most up-to-date training. End
