Celebrate National Crochet Month in March with a Tour through Crochet Country

Join 44 crochet designers for a special insider’s look into what’s new in the world of crochet

Feb. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- In honor of National Crochet Month this March, Crochetville is sponsoring “A Tour through Crochet Country,” a blog tour featuring 44 of today’s most popular crochet designers. Each day of the month, crocheters will be able to visit the blogs and websites of one or two crochet designers for a sneak peek into that designer’s life. According to a 2010 survey conducted by the Craft & Hobby Association, at least one crocheter resides in over 17.4 million US households. This event is our special thank-you to all those crocheters for supporting designers and the crochet industry.

Crocheters will receive a wealth of free crochet information throughout National Crochet Month. Participating designers may share insights into their creative design process or pictures of their design studio, provide stitch tutorials, or even offer free crochet patterns created especially for National Crochet Month 2013. No crocheter will want to miss even one stop along the Tour through Crochet Country.

We believe in the importance of giving back in recognition of what we have received, and A Tour through Crochet Country encourages visitors to give back right along with us. At each tour stop, visitors will be encouraged to support Project Night Night (http://projectnightnight.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year to homeless children. Each package consists of a new sturdy tote bag with a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children’s book, and a stuffed animal. These comfort objects help to reduce trauma and advance the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children served by Project Night Night. Tour visitors are asked to support Project Night Night by sending in new crocheted blankets (50” x 60” or smaller) and/or financial donations. We will keep track of donations on behalf of A Tour through Crochet Country and publish them on the Crochetville website.

The tour also helps support another 501(c)(3) non-profit organization: the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA, http://crochet.org). All featured designers are either Professional or Association Professional members of this organization, whose main purpose is to educate the public about crochet, provide education and networking opportunities, and set a national standard for the quality, art and skill of crochet through creative endeavors. CGOA offers two national conferences each year with an extensive list of crochet classes, an annual Design Competition, and a Master of Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques program. Hundreds of local chapters around the country provide crocheters additional opportunities to learn about crochet and advance their skills.

Accredited media interested in discussing this release in more detail are encouraged to contact Amy Shelton at amyshelton@crochetville.com to schedule an interview.
