Radio Personality Announces He Is HIV Postive

Feb. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Radio Personality Derrick Bradley better known as King Pharaoh radio host of Hype underground, announced Thursday on-air he is HIV Positive the virus that cause AIDS.
Pharaoh, 35, revealed that he found out he was HIV+ last summer 2012 and how well it was document on the show how sick he was getting in May of 2012 and thinking he had a stomach virus, sharing his story while on air.  “I thought I should come out just didn't know how and when, it's not easy telling someone your HIV+ yet alone the whole world.  But I was surprised when I got my results so many questions rush to my head and fear."

He mention that he is looking into becoming a spokesman for the HIV virus because I want people -- young people to realize that they can practice safe sex, and the stereotypes and fear that has come along with the virus. You know sometimes you're a little naïve about it and you think it could never happen to you. You only thought it could happen to, you know, other people and so on and all. And it has happened, but I'm going to deal with it and my life will go on. And I will be here enjoy this ride we call life  So, life is going to go on for me, and I'm going to be a happy man.

February 7 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, an opportunity to promote HIV prevention, testing, and treatment among African American in the United States.

African Americans are disproportionately affected by HIV. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that they accounted for nearly half (44%) of all new infections in 2010, despite making up only 14% of the population. This represents a rate that is eight times as high as that of whites.
