Lahave Forests Proudly Launches North America’s First Haskap Juice Under The “haskapa” Brand.

Feb. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The “haskapa” Haskap juice will be available by the 5oz glass and as a 1.5oz sample drink.  The Wooden Monkey is also adding Haskap berry recipes to both its standard and cocktail menus.

LaHave Forests has launched the “haskapa” brand to encourage a Canadian-based haskap industry and in addition to domestic clients has already met with potential clients in both Europe and the United States.  On the back of the haskapa brand development, LaHave Forests has just received a million dollars in additional funding from independent investors.

LaHave Forests has partnered with The Wooden Monkey as the restaurant has values that reflect those of the haskapa brand “health, quality, innovation and local produce”.

The Haskap is a member of the honeysuckle family and is growing in popularity. Although the berry has been used in Japan for generations, it is new to the North American market and deserves special note due to its health properties, taste, and versatility.

The berry provides exceptionally high levels of antioxidants, up to three times that of a Blueberry and has vitamin C content higher than that of an orange. The taste of the berry has been compared to a cross between a blueberry and raspberry with a hint of elderberry. Also, it can be used in many recipes just like other berries!
