Who:      Founded in 1966, LINK Unlimited is Chicago’s highest performing mentoring and scholarship program that provides the comprehensive resources necessary to develop promising African American students into academic achievers and community leaders. LINK pairs students with an adult mentor, among them some of Chicago’s most distinguished professionals, four years to guide and coach them to their personal best. The LINK approach provides a rigorous support system built to develop and hone the academic and interpersonal skills necessary for admission to top tier colleges and universities, and ultimately, a lifetime of success. For the past 12 years 100% of LINK Unlimited graduates have been accepted into the country's most highly competitive colleges and universities.

Why:  The 9th Annual DreamKeepers Awards Gala is LINK Unlimited's premier annual fundraiser attended by over 600 of Chicago’s top business, philanthropic and community leaders. They come together for an evening of celebration and to honor a key supporter of LINK Unlimited and Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream of equality and justice. The 2013 gala celebrates the accomplishments of our LINK scholars while highlighting the generous and unwavering support of Ed Wehmer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wintrust Financial Corporation.

Edward J. Wehmer is a founder of Wintrust and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company since May 1998. He is a tireless advocate for the LINK Unlimited program.

Jim Gaffigan is an award winning and Grammy-nominated comedian, actor & writer. His clever, quiet style has made him one of the top five most successful touring comedians in the country today. He is currently on a 50-city national tour.
