Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida Welcomes New CEO

The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida has announced the appointment of Susan E. Block as the new CEO.

Feb. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida has officially appointed a new CEO, Susan E. Block. Susan has replaced Kathleen Reynolds, PhD. who served as CEO for 5 years and recently retired.

Susan joins the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida with more than 20 years of experience in early childhood leadership. She was a doctoral candidate at State University of New York at Buffalo where she holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Most recently, Susan served as the Executive Director of Child Care Resource Network in Buffalo, New York. Block assumed her position as CEO on February 1st.

As CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida, Susan will oversee the organization’s budget, staff, services and community resources.

“In her time with us Kathleen has helped the Coalition immensely. She will be missed. However simultaneously, we are excited about what the future holds and how Susan will aid our organization and its mission,” commented Gerry Poppe, Acting Chair of the Board of Directors for the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida.

The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida is responsible for administering the School Readiness Program for low income and at risk children and families. They are also responsible for administering the Voluntary Prekindergarten program (VPK), which serves all four-year-old children in Lee, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties regardless of income.  The VPK program is an entitlement program for all four year olds residing in the State of Florida.

The Coalition strives to enhance the quality of childcare services for children, families, early childhood educators, and community partners in Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties, with opportunities to positively impact the future.
