The Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies awards program is looking for companies in Michigan that are leading the way on sustainable and green initiatives. Companies from all industries that are focused on being more sustainable, improving the lives of their employees and are committed to the local and global environments are encouraged to participate. The deadline is March 8, 2013.

Participating companies will be evaluated and scored by an independent research firm in the following categories: Education, Communication, Strategic Planning & Operational Implementation, Innovation & Problem Solving, Building & Grounds, Community Leadership, Workforce and Financial Performance. Each company’s entry is evaluated based on a point system; those receiving the highest points in relation to the company’s sustainable initiatives category are selected as the winners.

In all categories the winners are further analyzed for Elite recognition. The companies with the highest points assigned in each category are selected as the Elite Winners. The judges look for unique and creative thought processes with support from senior management and policy makers. Adaptations to various new factors in the marketplace are also weighed.

An educational symposium and awards gala will feature the winning Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies and their best practices on April 23, 2013 at Davenport University in Grand Rapids.
