Digital First Aid Expand To A New Office In Singapore

We spoke to Edwin Smith of Digital First Aid and asked him about the company’s plans for the future and the reason for leaving the UK. “Leaving the UK made sense for us, we still retain a local rate number should anyone in the UK wish to contact us and of course we have clients in mainland UK, however we realized that we would often see a full 12 months pass and never actually sat down with a customer, all communication was telephone and e-mail.”

Edwin continued, “It is quite understandable as this is how things work in the modern digital age, data, reports and presentations are passed in real time so visiting a client is often an unwanted intrusion and an unnecessary loss of time. We now have offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok. This allows us to have a small core team that can travel between the different offices when needed and a central technical team. It is a great system for us and allows us to be competitive with our pricing.”

We asked if staff would move between offices. “Oh yes, great question.” said Edwin. “We wanted to have a flexible team that could move between offices but always be online and dealing with their daily workload. That is a very achievable goal for us and has allowed Digital First Aid to have a smaller but highly efficient team.  By example if we needed someone from our Bangkok office to visit a client in Singapore for a presentation they could be there in a little over 2 hours, there were occasions when some of our team in the UK would travel for 3 or 4 hours to meet a client; a completely unnecessary waste of our time. An added bonus is that and it helps to keep of carbon footprint low and that is a good thing.”

“Our people are all highly motivated and enjoy the change of scenery when it comes but as I mentioned previously most of our business is conducted online and by telephone so perhaps the teams don’t get away just as much as they would want.”  

We asked what next for Digital First Aid? “The last three years have been amazing for us, we have built a great team and have offices in three countries; the future? Location wise I don’t see us opening more offices, we encourage our customers to keep overheads low but to work globally and have worked with clients in almost every developed country in many languages including Japanese and Chinese. Even with the international feel of our client base I see no reason for us not to follow the advice we give to clients and we see no reason for additional physical locations.
