Adaptive Skills
Since this disorder is debilitating in a myriad of ways, the center has collaborated with professionals in the field over the span of a decade to develop an adaptive skills program that will teach clients vital skills which include socialization, communication, hygiene and how to participate in community activities. The goal of this program is to help those with autism gain independence and confidence in everyday life activities and to work on the challenges that are unique to autistic individuals. Both the clients and their family members can gain valuable information and skills with this program and is available to each individual beginning at their level of need.

Behavioral Services
Working with Autism divides their behavioral services into two segments. The first segment concentrates on early intervention while the second has a strong focus on intensive behavioral programs. Within the early intervention portion various tools are used such as the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and the Discrete Trial Training (DTT) both of which assist in introducing new life skills to the individuals and also concentrates on helping those skills be internalized so that they can be accessed and utilized in future activities.
The intensive behavioral program revisits skills from the initial program but also teaches things like appropriate behaviors both at home and within the community and assists individuals in reducing the occurrence of excessive and troublesome behaviors that impede their success. Key elements of proper socialization are also introduced and worked on.

School Shadowing
The school shadowing portion of the program has been very successful as well. Staff members of Working with Autism play pivotal roles and offer support to individuals while they are continuing their studies. The staff will act as mentors both academically and also assist in the socialization that occurs within the educational realm. One on one support is available which is critical when those with autism are learning effective communication with peers and teachers, and also assists with learning disabilities.

Supervision Services
Supervision services are another key aspect with Working with Autism. Based on the individual’s needs and previous assessments, bi-monthly meetings take place where the team continues to assess and monitor everything that is observed and finds ways to maximize all elements of the program so that continued success is possible. Both academic progress and behavioral progress is discussed and examined and the purpose of supervision is to remove aspects of the program that may not work and incorporate other aspects that can contribute to the individual’s success and help them attain their goals.
During team meetings parents are also highly encouraged to bring forth any concerns either academically or behaviorally. This offers a safe place for all concerns to be discussed and addressed.  IEP plans are also available to further monitor the progress of students.

Functional Behavior Assessment
Through the Functional Behavior Assessment tools and Occupational Therapy program, the trained staff will work one on one with your child and help to teach them appropriate behaviors at home and while in academic or communal settings. At the same time they will work on replacing maladaptive and inappropriate behaviors with new ones which includes lessons on how to effectively communicate with others, behavior regulation, academic skills and motor development.

Family and Patient Services
There are various programs and supports in place for both family members and the individuals that have autism which include parent education services, support groups and intervention services. Though the Professional Consultation services parents are able to address critical issues and concerns and receive assistance as well as resources for all their individual needs and ongoing support is offered.
