NEA Jazz Master Candido Joins Bobby Sanabria for JazzPlus Launch at Ginny's Supper Club

Ginny's Supper Club in Harlem is launching a new jazz series Thursday and Friday, February 7th and 8th with double 2013 Grammy-nominated Latin jazz percussionist Bobby Sanabria and his band Quarteto Ache with Grand Master conga player Candido.
 
Feb. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- The sister venue of Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster restaurant—Ginny’s Supper Club (310 Lenox Avenue, between 125th and 126th)—premieres a “JazzPlus” series on Feb. 7th and 8th with Latin Jazz percussionist and 2013 double Grammy nominee Bobby Sanabria, leading Quarteto Aché.

NEA Jazz Master Candido will join Bobby Sanabria & Quarteto Ache for the launch of JazzPlus. Candido is the most recorded conga drummer in the history of music and has appeared and recorded with luminary artists in virtually every field of music, from Tony Bennett to Duke Ellington, Tito Puente, and Machito. This 91 year old grandmaster is still wowing audiences.

The new series are produced by Greg Thomas and Jewel Kinch-Thomas of G&J Productions.

About Bobby Sanabria: Jazz drummer, educator and bandleader Bobby Sanabria has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, with two in 2013: Best Latin Jazz Album for Multiverse and Best Instrumental Arrangement, “Afro-Cuban Jazz Suite for Ellington.” His diverse experience includes tenures with such legendary figures as Dizzy Gillespie, Henry Threadgill, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaría, Arturo Sandoval, Chico O'Farrill, Candido, Larry Harlow, and the Godfather of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Mario Bauzá.
