The department earned a Silver Award from the National Health Information Resource Center as part of the center’s National Health Information Awards program. The honor recognizes quality and creativity by a hospital/health care system in the magazine category.
Specifically, the award honors the excellence of the October/November 2011 issue of Healthwaves, which was devoted to breast cancer. The issue featured an interview with a breast cancer survivor, GHS’ accredited breast program and stories highlighting the support and treatment provided by GHS physicians, nurses and care team.
“Being recognized with this honor is truly gratifying,”
Healthwaves was among nearly 1,000 entries that showcased some of the nation’s most outstanding materials for the consumer health market. “Your award symbolizes that your work is among the very best,” said Patricia Henze, executive director of HIRC.
Healthwaves is distributed quarterly to about 60,000 homes in the GHS market area.
Kelly Perritt, assistant director of communications, is the managing editor of Healthwaves, and Wilson is the editor-in-chief. Marketing assistant Sandi Matthews and free-lance photographer Julie Rowe provide photography, and Margaret Lamb is copy editor.
