Florida Is In A Dog State Of Mind.

How does a dog lover, living in Florida stay current with dog-friendly events? One reliable source, The New Barker dog magazine, is well-connected across the entire state.

Feb. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The New Barker has been named the Official Dog Magazine for Florida's Largest Home Show, (www.bighomeshow.com) and will be co-hosting the Spring Fling Adopt-A-Pet at the Florida State Fairgrounds, March 15-17. There will be a staging area with programs, demonstrations and short seminars going on throughout the weekend, hosted by The New Barker. Rescue groups interested in participating are encouraged to contact Rick Medina (813.380.5674) at Animal Based Charities, a coalition of Florida rescue groups. Pet-related vendors interested in participating should contact The New Barker at info@thenewbarker.com.

The New Barker is once again the official dog magazine for this year’s International Combined Driving Event at Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City (www.littleevergladessteeplechase.org). While this is an exciting Equestrian event, dog lovers will get a kick out of the Jack Russell Terrier Races being held on Saturday, February 23.

The New Barker is also a co-sponsor of the Jacksonville Humane Society's Mutt March (March 2 at The Jacksonville Landing; www.jaxhumane.org) and the Humane Society of Manatee County's Paws in Motion (March 9, Downtown Bradenton’s Riverwalk; www.humanemanatee.org). The magazine will be busy in March with additional duties as the official dog magazine for events, including the 6th Annual Doggie Derby in Orlando, the Annual Dog’s Day in Dade City, and the 4th Annual Florida Wiener Dog Derby in North Fort Myers. The fun doesn’t slow down in April for the Florida dog magazine. The New Barker will be at the 7th Annual PawFest on Saturday, April 6 in Largo, once again as the event's official dog magazine and co-sponsor. This has always been a fun event for the entire family. This will be the first year that The New Barker is involved with the annual Chasco Fiesta in New Port Richey. The magazine will be co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Chasco Fiesta Pet Adoption Fair on Saturday, April 13 in New Port Richey. Pet-related vendors and rescue groups interested in participating in either of these events are encouraged to call Linda at 727.501.1444 for PawFest and Kristen at 727.842.7651 for the Chasco Fiesta Pet Adoption Fair.

Baseball fans and dog lovers alike, April 28th kicks off the season’s Bark in the Park series at the newly renovated McKechnie Field, home of the Bradenton Marauders, Major League Baseball's minor league team. The New Barker has been asked back as the season’s Official Dog Magazine for each of the five Bark in the Parks, events that encourage humans to bring their dogs to the games. There will be games, raffle prizes and plenty of giveaways. Additionally, details are forthcoming on the upcoming Tampa Bay Ray’s Bark at the Ballpark, scheduled during Major League baseball season at Tropicana Field. Last year's first time dog-friendly event at the Trop was a sell-out. The Tampa Yankees will also be hosting their annual Bark in the Park, inviting The New Barker back as the event's official dog magazine.

The New Barker is also currently working with Lisa Posin, executive director for Olive's Way on a fundraising project, slated for April 31. Partnering with Florida's oldest restaurant, the Columbia Restaurant and Richard Gonzmart, the Wine Tasting Dinner will raise money to benefit the Oncology Department at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital. Special guest will be Jeremy Foley, Athletic Director for the University of Florida. His chocolate Labrador, Gracie, who was featured in the very first issue of The New Barker in 2006, was a recent patient at the UF Small Animal Hospital. For ticket information, please contact info@thenewbarker.com and include Olive's Way in the subject line.
