Feb. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- When the CEO of Transform was forced to end his sporting career early due to injury he soon replaced disappointment with ambition- something we all have to learn to do in order to be successful. So, what practices can we take from sportsmen/women and how can we implement them in the workplace?

1.   Set a goal and work towards it.

Good athletes are focused, determined and always working towards a particular goal/sporting event.  They are constantly training and learning new things in order to improve their performance and become the best that they can be. They enlist the help of coaches who can help and advise them to train in the best possible way and give them the best chance of winning.

2.   Compete with yourself as well as others.

Even athletes at the top of their game are constantly trying to improve.  There is always a record to break even if it is their own! Athletes are always striving to better themselves, be the best in the game and play/compete to the very best of their ability. This is something that the CEO of Transform Outsource applies when it comes to his business.

3.   Learn how to overcome obstacles and use them to your advantage.

Transform Outsource believes that this may very well be the most crucial piece of advice that we can take from athletes and transfer to business. A perfect example is cyclist Bradley Wiggins. In 2012 Bradley Wiggins won both the Tour de France (the first British winner since 1903) and took home a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. He was also voted sports personality of the year and received a knighthood for his services to cycling.  While 2012 was an amazing year for Wiggins, it is hard to believe that just a year earlier he crashed out of the 2011 Tour de France with a broken collarbone! Although obviously this was disappointing for Wiggins, evidently it did not deter him from reaching his goals, going on to recover and make some of the greatest achievements of his career to date.

4.   Find yourself a good mentor.

Look to the people who have been where you want to be and achieved what you hope to achieve. The CEO of Transform Outsource did. “During both my sporting career and my days working towards the business that I own, I had a mentor or coach. I strongly recommend finding someone who has achieved great things, the type of things you wish to achieve and shadowing them, listening to them, educating yourself.  Listen to the advice that you are given. Your mentor/coach will also serve as a constant reminder that these things are completely possible- if they can do it, why can’t you?”

5.   Commit to your goal and give 100% even if it means making a few small sacrifices.

Athletes are known for their strict training regimes and often have to make short-term sacrifices that will benefit them in the long run.  This is something that the CEO of Transform Outsource is also familiar with. “Fortunately I am surrounded by a supportive network of people who understood my goals and ambitions while I was working hard trying to build my own business. They understood why I would put in overtime at the weekends or take long business calls. As well as being understanding, they appreciated that those things were necessary steps in securing the lifestyle that we are now able to lead due to those short term sacrifices”.
