Party with a Local global launch

The App that’s been changing travel in Europe is about change travel around the world.

Jan. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Party with a Local (http://partywithalocal.com/)  is a free app that connects travellers and locals that want to party. Because a night out anywhere is better with a local. When you’re travelling, it’s a fun way to meet locals, make new friends and find the party. When you’re between travels, it’s a unique way to see your own city with fresh eyes and to make contacts for your next trip abroad. It’s a bit like Couchsurfing, without the couch.

How it works
Users login to the App using Facebook and some basic information is collected to fill in their profile. Other optional information, including photos and reviews, can be added to enhance profiles. Users are then able to browse other locals or travellers who are nearby, chat with them, arrange to meet up and party. A status can also be set party-wise, e.g. ‘Let’s go for a beer’ and a nearby bar or club can be suggested to meet at. This 'party status' is then broadcast for other users of Party with a Local to see.

The story so far
Party with a Local was released on the iTunes App Store in Europe in October 2012 and launched with a big party in Amsterdam (of course). Since then, the community of locals and travellers has begun to balloon.

Not long after its release a media buzz began. The App has been written-up in Australia by The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald as one of the 'Websites that is changing travel (http://www.theage.com.au/travel/blogs/the-backpacker/webs...)', mentioned by BBC Travel and written up in the Dutch media by De Volkskrant and NRC Next.

Global launch
Party with a Local is now launching globally with an updated App. It is available for free on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch through the iTunes app store (https://itunes.apple.com/app/party-with-a-local/id5625608...). An Android version of the app is in the works and people can register their interest on the Party with a Local website (http://partywithalocal.com/).

The Party with a Local team is led by Dan Fennessy (CEO/Marketing), Bas Wind (Web/API Developer) and Paulo Antunes (App Developer). They are based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
