Why Use Organic Soap? Osmia Organics Founder Explains Benefits of Using Natural Soap in New Article

Natural skin care brand Osmia Organics announces a new article revealing how organic soap is made, and the benefits of buying natural soap.
Feb. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Natural skin care provider Osmia Organics today announced the publication of "Why Organic Soap," an article authored by company founder Dr. Sarah Villafranco. In the article, Dr. Villafranco, a board-certified physician turned artisan soap guru, describes the steps of cold-process soap-making. She also mentions the ingredients to look for when buying bar soap, in order to keep moisture levels up in the skin and prevent it from drying.

The article also explains the numerous benefits of choosing handmade soap, including the fact that natural soaps, like Osmia’s, don’t use harsh chemicals or potentially carcinogenic additives. Instead, they use gourmet, food-grade, certified organic oils, wild-harvested plant butters, and botanical powders or clays that leave skin feeling silky smooth.  The use of essential oils (distilled from plants) over fragrance oils (made in a laboratory) keeps the toxicity levels at a minimum. “Osmia Organics features over a dozen, naturally-fragranced, soaps, all of which were made in small batches and contain only the most luxurious ingredients found in nature,” explains Dr. Villafranco.

In addition, the article describes how larger companies sometimes use more plastic and other, less environmentally-aware packaging materials. Smaller, artisan soap companies tend to use more eco-conscious packaging. Osmia’s soap packaging consists of partially recycled, acid-free watercolor paper,  hemp twine  and labeled with a tree-free, water-free paper called Terraskin, resulting in a diminished ecological impact overall.

With natural bar soaps making a big comeback this year in supermarkets, drugstores and cosmetics counters worldwide, it’s becoming easier than ever to make the switch to higher-quality bar soap. “By choosing an organic soap,” explains Dr. Villafranco, “you’re not only choosing to help the planet, you’re also leaving your skin beautifully conditioned. It’s a win-win situation.”
