Kia Vehicles Inspired by DC Comics Were on Display at the North American International Auto Show

Jan. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- McGrath Kia in Hiawatha, IA is proud to announce that the Kia display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit benefited the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign. This charitable organization works with Save the Children, International Rescue Committee, and Mercy Corps — all humanitarian groups in Africa — to fight hunger resulting from the recent drought in the Horn of Africa. The current crisis is the worst in more than 60 years, and 13 million people need help. To benefit this important cause, Kia and DC comics have teamed up to create a number of one-of-a-kind vehicles inspired by super heroes in order to raise both awareness and money through the auction of these unique vehicles.

The superhero-inspired cars included characters from the DC Comics universe. Several of these cars were shown at the SEMA show last fall, but Kia waited until the Detroit show to debut the impressive Batman car. All of the cars are inspired by the legendary Justice League of America comics, which brought together some of the most important heroes in the DC Comics universe.

The vehicles created for the campaign are as follows:

The Batman Kia Optima sported a spectacular custom black-on-black paintjob, and a number of performance enhancements like lowered suspension, Ksport performance brakes, 20-inch black wheels with Batman center caps, and more.
The Green Lantern Soul got an appropriate green-and-black paint scheme with green-tinted, mirrored chrome windows. This Soul was also lowered and widened to fit 18x10.5-inch wheels. The front of the Soul got blacked-out projector headlights that glow green.
Other cars included a custom Cyborg-inspired Forte and a Flash-inspired Forte Koup.
There was also a Rio that was inspired by Aquaman — but it couldn’t make the Detroit show.
Other cars scheduled to be created will feature Superman, Wonder Woman, and a car that features the Whole Justice League.
